The new Richmond RCMP detachment will be a LEED Gold certified. This new green building is a renovated 107,770 Sq. Ft. building originally used by the 2010 Vancouver Integrated Security Unit and is built to post-disaster standards. This facility houses the Richmond RCMP management, administration and operations as well as holding cells, sally port and victim services. This facility is built with numerous sustainable features that support LEED Gold status, from existing building recycling to sustainable lighting and mechanical systems.

Highlights of sustainable Mechanical system:

• Solar panels for heating domestic hot water
• High efficiency heat pump units for heating and cooling with the ability to recover waste heat from the building cooling process.
• Heat island effect reduction
• Light pollution reduction

TSE Consulting, working as part of the commissioning team, provided field programming and start up commissioning services for all mechanical systems on this project. TSE Consulting's scope of work included the following systems:

• Central heating and cooling heat pump plant
• Solar domestic water system
• Heat recovery air handling units
• Variable air volume units and associate fan coil units
